Lux 9 is a civic translation and community engagement practice working with developers, municipalities, conservation organizations, and national institutions across Canada. We help clients navigate the real tensions between growth pressure, community character, and ecological integrity.
We design engagement, build strategy, and translate between communities, institutions, and the land they share.

We design and run engagement processes for complex projects — development applications, planning processes, housing initiatives, and infrastructure decisions where the community has genuine stakes in the outcome. Our programs are built to produce something useful: a public record that holds up, a community that feels heard, and a process that doesn’t become the story. We also build institutional capacity. Where municipalities or conservation authorities want to run engagement programs themselves, we build the playbooks, train the staff, and get out of the way.

We work with organizations navigating moments of structural change — conservation authority amalgamations, municipal growth pressures, institutional repositioning — where the strategic challenge isn’t just what to decide, but how to hold stakeholder trust while deciding it. We help clients think clearly about what they’re trying to accomplish, who needs to be in the room, and what the process needs to produce.

We help organizations — institutions, communities, development teams, national bodies — find and articulate a story that is genuinely theirs. Not messaging. Not a tagline. A durable frame for who they are, what they’re doing, and why it matters to the people they need to bring with them. This work sits at the intersection of strategic communications, community voice, and creative direction.
